Cloud Migration Planning

The expensive part of moving to the cloud is not the move. It is the bill afterwards, which is charged by the hour for things that used to be a one-time purchase, and which nobody models before signing.

This is one fixed price for the plan: an inventory of what you run, what each thing would cost to run hosted, the order things move in so the business keeps working, and the honest list of what is cheaper left where it is.

What it costs

$1,800 one time One fixed price for the inventory, the cost model and the written plan. Carrying out the migration is quoted separately, from the plan.

How it works

  1. We inventory what you runServers, applications, storage, mailboxes and the dependencies between them, including the ones nobody documented.
  2. We model the running costWhat each piece would cost per month once hosted, compared against what it costs today. This is the number that decides most migrations, and it is usually the one nobody has.
  3. We write the orderWhat moves first, what has to stay reachable throughout, what the rollback is at each step, and what stays where it is.

Who this is for

Who this is not for

You have one server and one application
Then $1,800 of planning is out of proportion to the decision. Ask the hourly question instead: IT Strategy Consulting will usually answer it in two hours.
The decision has already been made for you
If a parent company or a software vendor has mandated the destination, a plan that might conclude otherwise is not what you need. Buy the execution, not the deliberation.
You want us to recommend our own hosting
Sometimes the plan will conclude your systems belong somewhere that is not us, or should not move at all. That conclusion is the reason the plan is worth paying for.
