Office Network Setup
Most small office networks are the box the internet provider left, placed wherever the cable came in. That is why the far end of the office has no signal and the guest wifi is the same network as the accounting computer.
This is the work of laying one out properly: coverage measured where people sit rather than where the equipment is convenient, guests kept off the network the business runs on, and nothing left on the password printed on its own label.
What it costs
$175 per hour Billed by the hour on site in the Miami area. Equipment is bought by you, at your own cost, from wherever you like; we specify it and set it up.
Who this is for
- An office moving into a new space, before the furniture arrives and while the walls are still reachable.
- An office where the wifi works at one end and not the other.
- A business whose guest network and business network are the same network.
- A business that has never changed a factory password on a router or an access point.
Who this is not for
- Nobody has measured the problem
- If the complaint is vague, a Network Assessment at $175 an hour finds out what is actually wrong first. Buying equipment before measuring is how offices end up with three access points and the same dead corner.
- You want us to pull cable through walls
- We are not a cabling contractor and we will not pretend to be one. We specify what runs are needed and work with whoever installs them.
- You are outside the Miami area
- The configuration can be done remotely once the equipment is in place. Deciding where it goes cannot, and that is the part that matters.
Worth having alongside
- Network AssessmentMeasure before buying. It is the same hourly rate and it decides what the equipment should be.
- Office IT MaintenanceA network built properly still needs somebody to look at it when something changes.
- Security AuditSeparating the guest network is one finding. There are usually others, and they are not on the network.
